on our vacation to San Diego last year at an Urban Outfitters store & I've been itching to paint them since... but I was a wee anxious about starting. I gave them a white base first to make the colors nice and bright.
I'm painting them with acrylic paints and lots of patience :)
It is so pretty! My friend at work also painted a whole set and they are super cute! I don't know how you guys did it... those curves are so hard to paint! Can't wait to see the whole set when you are done! :)
The little Matryoshka is sweet! I get so many ideas from your blog. Now I have to do a web search for them. They would look cool as owls ("kitty penguins," my husband calls owls) or penguins, don't you think?
I've been visiting your blog for a long time as a source of inspiration - your work is so charming! I bought your Ask/Believe/Receive prints and adore them! Love this new project and can't wait to see how the other Matryoshka Birds turn out.

They are awesome and I LOVE the colors. I have always wanted to get a set of blank matryoshka dolls to design myself.

what a fun project to embark on. so cute!
GORGEOUS!!! And what a cool idea.
Do you mix your own colors or buy lots and lots of different color paint tubes?

Awesome! I wanted to do the same thing but need to find some blanks. Looks great, as always!
I love the first one. It looks so beautiful in your signature color scheme!
i know how you feel. it is such a curved surface area so it feels quite strange to add all the detail on these blank dolls.
So far it is looking wonderful Geninne. Can't wait to see the end results.
birds and matryoshka's...perfect!
You have extremely fine artwork/blog.
